Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Cielo app (web and Android) during its beta. It is written in plain language so you can see exactly what happens to your data.
Who we are
Cielo is operated by Alessandro Amodio, Australia ("we", "us"). You can reach us at info@ask-cielo.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a login credential, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Your conversations: the messages you send to the philosophers and their replies, including voice messages you record (which are transcribed to text).
- Your profile: your name or nickname, preferred language, settings, and what you choose to tell Cielo about yourself. Over time the app also builds a picture of your interests and attitudes from your conversations, so that replies fit you better.
- Photos and life events: if you add a photo or a life event, the photo, your description and the story built from them.
- Usage data: for each AI call, which model was used and how many tokens it consumed, linked to your account. We use this to run the fair-use limit, to detect inactivity, and to track cost.
- Feedback: anything you send through the feedback form, with your category choice and platform (web or mobile).
- Push notification token (Android app), if you allow notifications.
- Your own AI API key, if you choose to add one. It is stored encrypted and never shown again except its last four characters.
- Payment data: only if you take a paid subscription. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Beta access via an invite code involves no payment.
How we use it
- To run the app: generate replies, remember your conversations, personalise, send notifications you have enabled.
- To operate the beta: enforce the invite code, the fair-use limit and the inactivity rule described in the Beta Terms.
- To improve Cielo, including reading the feedback you send us.
- To keep the service secure and stable.
We do not sell your data and we do not show you advertising.
Who else sees your data
To work, Cielo relies on service providers that process data on our behalf:
- OpenAI and Anthropic — your messages (and any photos or voice you send) are sent to their AI models to produce replies, transcriptions and speech. If you use your own API key, those calls go through your own account with that provider.
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage.
- Fly.io — hosts our servers.
- Tavily — news search; queries are derived from topics and do not include your name or email.
- Google / Expo — delivery of push notifications.
- Stripe — payments, for subscribers only.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Each has its own privacy terms. Please do not share information in conversations that you would not want processed by these providers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data and conversations while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, conversations, photos, feedback and usage records linked to you. Backups may take a short additional time to clear. Payment records held by Stripe follow Stripe's and legal retention requirements.
Your rights and choices
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data, by emailing info@ask-cielo.com. We will respond within 30 days.
- You can turn off notifications in your device settings, and remove your API key or any life event in the app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example under GDPR or Australian privacy law), including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Not professional advice
Cielo's philosophers are AI characters for reflection and conversation. They are not therapists, doctors or advisors. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
Children
Cielo is not intended for people under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to our database is restricted to our servers, and your API key is stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, and as a beta, Cielo may contain bugs.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and tell you in the app.
